If you place heavy items in a box that is flimsy, you are running the risk of damage to your things as the box could break. Make sure you are gathering boxes that are made of sturdy materials that will be able to handle carrying heavy items.
– Packing Tape: Like boxes, not all packing tape is created equal as well. Some of the cheaper packing tape doesn’t have the same sticking ability as higher quality tape. You will most definitely need more packing tape than you need, so don’t skimp when you are buying tape.
– Packing Paper: You more than likely have many fragile items in your home that you would like to make it to your new place in one piece. For this reason, you are going to need plenty of packing paper, to keep your items safe. Using newspaper isn’t recommended as the ink can rub off the newspaper and transfer to your belongings.
– Bubble Wrap: You will more than likely need bubble wrap to move any glass items in your home. This will give those items the extra cushion they need to make the move safely.
– Labels/Markers: Labeling is extremely important when moving. You will be much more organized throughout your move when you do serious labeling on each and every box. Make a detailed list of everything in the box so you can easily find it when you get to your new place. You will need labels or markers to get the job done. Buy several markers as you will go through more than you think you will.
